Author Biography

Josephine Lee has lived most of her life in the New York metropolitan area. Born in the United States to immigrant parents from China, her interest in local Chinese history comes from personal ties.

She holds a master of arts from Tufts University’s Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, where she studied international affairs. She currently teaches international marketing at Iona College.

She is a member of The Organization of Chinese Americans and The University of Pennsylvania Asian Alumni Network. She speaks Cantonese and has traveled throughout many Chinese communities in the United States and around the world. She plays mahjong competitively, competing at the 2007 Open European Mahjong Championships on the United States Mahjong Team and at the 2007 World Mahjong Championships as a United States delegate.

She hopes that her work will encourage the sharing of life stories and experiences amongst people with different cultural backgrounds and help preserve the history of the Chinese American community.
